About the Journal
The IBU Journal of Urban and Territorial Studies is a digital open-access publication, promoted by the Bolivian Institute of Urbanism (IBU), and is non-profit. Its main objective is to contribute to the development of urbanism in Bolivia by publishing interdisciplinary research that addresses urban and territorial phenomena from various perspectives, such as geography, sociology, planning, architecture, economics, history, and political sciences. The articles submitted to the journal are evaluated through a blind peer-review system and cover topics such as mobility, environment, gentrification, governance, and spatial inequality, among others. The journal invites both scientists and specialists in social sciences and transdisciplinary fields to submit their research.
The topics covered in this journal are linked to urban and territorial phenomena and processes that can be analyzed from the fields of geography, sociology, planning, architecture, economics, history, political science, etc., as well as various disciplinary and interdisciplinary areas focused on the production of space. Contributions are welcomed on topics such as socio-spatial mobility, environment, biomimicry, and urban agriculture, territorial data management, technologies and energy for urban transition, governance, citizen participation, and territorial planning, habitat, housing and public spaces, multilocality and urban-rural integration, sustainable tourism, territorial heritage and urban education, gentrification and spatial inequalities, among others. The journal prioritizes debates from Ibero-America and the Global South, however, contributions from other locations and social formations are also welcome. Therefore, for the first volume of the journal, scientists and specialists in social, human, environmental, and transdisciplinary sciences, applied and technical fields are invited to submit manuscripts following the specifications outlined below.
General Submission Format
Texts of a maximum of 9,000 words and a minimum of 5,000 words will be accepted (in Spanish, English, or Portuguese). These texts must include a minimum of 15 bibliographic references cited. The submitted texts will be grouped under the following sections: scientific articles, special issues (requiring at least 6 articles on a specific issue), reviews (comments on recent scientific books), and policy briefs. Texts submitted for the scientific articles and special issues sections will be evaluated by the scientific committee and blind peer reviewers. Texts submitted for the reviews and policy briefs sections will be directly evaluated by the journal’s scientific committee. All texts must be original and not previously published (either entirely or partially) in any other virtual or printed medium. They must not be under simultaneous evaluation for other publications.
